How To Make Your Home Safe For Children

  • Posted on April 16, 2017 at 2:49 pm

When it comes to children and home safety, adults need to turn their attention to those areas of the home that present the most danger. According to the CDC, the areas of the home that are the most dangerous for children include the bathroom, the kitchen and areas that contain stairs. There are a few simple ways to ensure your kids are as safe as possible within a home:

Safety in the Kitchen

There are many dangers present in the kitchen, including stoves and cupboards filled with chemical cleaners and water that children can slip on or drown in. When it comes to the cupboards, parents should ensure that they put stoppers onto the drawers so that their kids are not able to open them up completely. Poisonous substances, such as chemical cleaners, should be placed in a locked cupboard, and any heating surface, such as the stove, should be supervised when in use. Parents should remember to lock the fridge door; if a child gets stuck inside, they could easily suffocate or die from hypothermia.

Electrical Cords and Sockets

Children will often explore every inch of the home, and this includes the electric cords and sockets that they come across. Cover all electric sockets when they are not in use so that your kids do not stick their fingers into them and electrocute themselves. Do not leave electric cords in reach of small children; if they are attached to an appliance, the child could pull on it and have the appliance fall and injure them.

Protecting Your Little Loved Ones from Stairs

When it comes to stairs in the home, parents should ensure that young children do not have access to this area, or they could easily fall down them. Install gates at the top and at the base of the stairs so that children are not able to get up or down the stairs without adult supervision.

Sharp Corners and Edges

The best way to ensure that your home is safe for your kids is to view your home through their eyes, so get down on your knees and start looking for edges and corners that could cause them injuries. Tables, countertops and even artwork can cause bruises and scrapes as children walk or run past them; by covering particularly sharp areas with some rubber, you can rest assured that your child will be safe from harm.

Parents need to remember that while they can take the appropriate measures to ensure their homes are safe, there might be times when injuries simply cannot be avoided; for this reason, a child should be constantly supervised.

Keeping Ducks As Pets – Joy That You Should Know Before You Start To Raise Ducks

  • Posted on April 16, 2017 at 10:13 am

Ducks are some of the cutest creatures that ever walked the planet. It has become quite popular these days to keep these small birds for the house, not the market. Perhaps this is the reason why many people are now into keeping ducks as pets.

Advantages of Keeping Pet Ducks

Ducks are, by nature, domestic and sociable. These traits make it considerably easy for people to succeed in keeping ducks as pets. But why would you want ducklings to be in your house in the first place? First of all, ducks are harmless. Unlike dogs, rats, and snakes – some of the most common pets around, ducks don’t carry poison in their body, such as rabies and venom, to harm its owners. Second of all, ducks are friendly. Because they are sociable creatures, ducks can be conveniently familiarized with human habits so that boundaries can be quickly set and roles can be introduced. Last but not in any way the least, ducks are cheap. Unlike cats and dogs, ducks won’t have you spending on huge amounts of expensive food, toys, clothing and accessories, and shelter.

How to Keep Them Alive

But that doesn’t mean you can be complacent when it comes to raising ducks as pets. If anything, you have to be extra careful of these creatures because of their size. They require constant care for the first five weeks of life. During the first three to four weeks, they need to be placed in a warm area, like a cage or a box with a light bulb. After this period, you can introduce them to the natural weather by taking them out of the cage or box and carrying them to various parts of the house – and even outside. However, do make sure that they are away from water. Premature swimming could lead to diseases or drowning.

When you’re keeping ducks as pets, stock up on green plants for food. Pull out the weeds in your yard or buy some packed greens from your local pet store. Ducklings also accept kitchen leftovers, but not those that have molds or are spicy. For the first two weeks, however, ducklings should only be given duck starter; for the next three to seven weeks, they should be given duck grower. Don’t forget to give them clean water for drinking.

Lessons For Children From The Beleif Of Our Lady Of Fatima

  • Posted on April 16, 2017 at 9:11 am

Believers say that In 1917, the Virgin Mary appeared to three young children in Fatima, Portugal. During those appearances, Our Lady of Fatima, as Mary came to be known in connection with the visions delivered a message to the children. This Fatima message included three secrets, including a vision of Hell. The secrets in the Fatima message and what would become the Fatima prayer teach children who believe if Fatima the five important lessons that are as relevant today as they were nearly one hundred years ago.

Lesson 1: God is with us every day—Perhaps the most important part of the Fatima message is that God doesn’t just exist; He is also a part of our lives. The Virgin Mary is an extension of God, and her appearance is in itself a message that God actively participates in the world.

Lesson 2: People can be saved—One of the secrets Mary revealed was sinners can be saved. This is an important lesson for children to learn as they begin to enter formative stages in their lives.

Lesson 3: Prayer is important—The Our Lady of Fatima prayer is a perfect prayer for children to learn. Its simplicity is its perfection: “O God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love you. I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love you.”

Lesson 3: Peace is possible—In addition to teaching the children the Fatima prayer, the Virgin Mary also told the children that the world is capable of peace, but only if it chooses that path. Children need to know that the world is what they make of it, and this was conveyed at Fatima.

Lesson 5: A miracle changes more than just one life—Even though Our Lady of Fatima appeared to three children, the miracle of the visions has in many ways changed the lives of millions more. Today, a century later, the world is still captivated by the visions. It is a miracle that continues to inspire, and children should know that miracles are possible.

The Fatima children are no longer alive, but their legacy and that of the Virgin Mary visions continues for many. Some people believe that each time a child repeats the Our Lady of Fatima prayer, he or she also knows that God exists, people can be saved, prayer is essential, there can be peace, and miracles are real.
