Piano Bench Plans How to Build a Quality Bench

  • Posted on August 17, 2017 at 5:50 pm

A well constructed piano bench is an essential tool for every pianist and many other musicians including harpists and guitarists. Knowing the plans for building a bench will enable the consumer to learn about the construction and what to look for when purchasing. Several varieties of benches are available including adjustable, double and the traditional common models.
Good piano bench plans will include the choice material of dense hardwood such as maple for the legs and bench frame. Usage of hardwood will insure the bench is sturdy and will last for many years. Metal hinges and end frames should be constructed of durable steel of a heavy gauge that will be strong and durable. The choice of wood for the bench top is usually of top grade laminated veneer or a solid wood that can be easily finished.
Craftsmanship is an important factor that must be included in piano bench plans; the best materials cannot make up for a poor quality of workmanship. Good craftsmanship will include carefully cut wood and even edges of routing, having an even symmetry that will be easy to finish and assemble. The final finish of a well planned bench will include a lacquer or high grade polyester coating in the consumer’s choice of colors.
Several varieties of covering and styles can be included in the plans including high grade vinyl or genuine leather for the bench top lid. While genuine leather may cost more in the initial investment it will be longer lasting than vinyl and less easy to tear. Leg styles used in piano bench construction include the square, tapered, round and curved designs. The proper bench style should be made to match the interior decor and the specific piano design. Buying a bench that is made of quality materials will insure that your bench is sturdy enough for any size player and will last for many years to come while furthering musical development and the enjoyment of your instrument.
While some consumers will choose to use their own piano bench plans, the majority of consumers will opt for purchasing a new piano bench. Quality piano benches are available from online specialty stores at discount prices. The selection is large and shipping is available to your door.

Helpful Photography Tipsshooting In Monochrome

  • Posted on August 17, 2017 at 4:39 pm

Shooting in Monochrome
To give a contemporary photo an old-fashioned feel, try shooting in monochrome. A picture done entirely in black and white or sepia tones achieves on old time look. Rather than editing the picture through a computer program, many digital cameras feature a setting that enables you to actually shoot the images directly in monochrome.

The monochrome setting option simplifies the process of creating these stunning pictures. No software or special knowledge of photo editing is required to produce these stunning images. Depending on what type of digital camera you have, the monochrome setting will be located in the My Colours, Colour or Picture Style settings menu.

Types of monochrome settings
Once you’ve located the monochrome setting, you will see that you have different options. Black and white and sepia settings are offered by most digital cameras. Colour monochrome settings, such as green and blue, are included in some cameras as well. The more advanced cameras enable you to enhance the monochrome mode with various coloured filters. These filters allow you to achieve a number of effects. For instance, you can recreate the effect of a red filter over black and white film. Also, any colours in the subject that are the same colour as the filter can be selectively lightened.

Choosing a setting
Consider the emotion you want the photo to evoke. Sepia tones create a different feel than black and white, and vice versa. For example, a sepia-toned image will present a softer look, reminiscent of antique photos. Black and white, on the other hand, is ideal for photographing strong structural elements for stark contrasts.

Choosing your subject
Landscapes and city scenes tend to feature strong structural elements, such as buildings. Shadows actually enhance these subjects. Sunlight casts the lines and angles with dramatic patterns. To record the most detail possible, use an ISO setting of 200 or less. Low ISO settings best capture the shadows and structures that make for striking monochrome photos.

Gentle, more romantic settings also lend themselves well to monochrome mode. A dream-like or nostalgic mood can be evoked through monochrome photography. Subtle nuances emerge through the variations in tone.

Portraits, of both pets and people, are excellent subjects for monochrome photographs, particularly those done in black and white. You can vary the effect by changing the lighting. Soft light minimises the appearance of blemishes. Directional lighting, lighting which emanates from a single source, accentuates facial features.

Tips for shooting in monochrome
As explained above, the monochrome setting directly captures monochrome images. No colour information is recorded. While colour photos can be made monochrome with computer software, a photo taken in the monochrome setting cannot be reverted to colour. That is, unless you take the pictures in RAW format.

Try using your digital camera’s flash, whether inside or outside, when taking monochrome photos. Although the flash might washout an image taken in colour, that same flash can cast desirable dramatic shadows in monochrome.

Experiment with the different filters before you start taking photos. Your efforts will be better directed if you first know the effect that each filter achieves.

The Role Of A Sous Chef

  • Posted on August 17, 2017 at 4:00 pm

Working within a kitchen of a restaurant can be very busy and stressful. Depending on the size of the restaurant or how popular the restaurant is, the food orders can be consistent from the opening of the restaurant to the end of the restaurant.

There are several different levels of chefs within all restaurant kitchens and the one which has the best chance of being a head chef when the head chef leaves the business either by retirement or by being sacked, would be the sous chef.

Within the kitchen, a sous chef is the second in command. Whenever the head chef is absent, the sous chef will take his/her place and direct the kitchen staff. As with all chefs, the duty of the role is to prepare and cook food, working with the rest of the kitchen team to produce food within the best standard as possible. The sous chefs responsibility is no different, however they are also required to manage and lead the team as well as assisting chef de parties as and when necessary.

In the head chefs absence, the sous chef will also be responsible for the ordering of stock and fresh produce, reporting all stock and the maintaining within budget. Staff rota would also be the responsibility during the head chefs absence, so is the health and safety and food and hygiene regulations.

The sous chef will have come from the chef de partie level, after a few years or more experience, the chances of promotion to become the future head chef would be working from the bottom up. Not all chefs stay within the same restaurant, depending on the competition of the workers, opportunities elsewhere will always be available.

In order to become a sous chef, it is important to have passed and achieved certain chef qualifications, have a food and hygiene certificate, have previous experience within a similar role and be able to lead and motivate others. Being able to create menus and creativity within foods would be essential for the role as well. Within the job market, there are plenty of different chef roles available; however the numbers of chefs applying for jobs online are much less.

Russian Singer Maksim Released Her Third Album odinochka (single)

  • Posted on August 17, 2017 at 2:46 pm

New (third) album by singer MakSim “Odinochka” (“Single”) was released in early winter of 2009. This new work was recorded after a short pause associated with the birth of her daughter.

“Odinochka” includes already well-known movie hits “The Birds” (from the movie “Taras Bulba”) and “The Road” (from the movie “The Book of Masters”), as well as the single “Radio Waves” and popular in Internet hit “Odinochka”.

MakSim explained that album title has nothing similar with the word “loneliness”. Single is a state of mind.

“Now I have a completely new and unfamiliar period in life. I married, we have a daughter – Sasha, and I am… “single”. We live in a big house far from the city in the village, where we are the only tenants. We listen to vinyl records, inherited from grandparents, read aloud, and go to a river in the evenings. We have lots of guests, mostly musicians. It is easy and fun to be “Single”, as there are many people like us.

In support of the new album MakSim conducts large-scale tour along the cities of Russia. MakSim plans to continue the tour in 2010 after a short vacation. Singer plans to release new singles and videos with hits from the album “Odinochka”.

Release, entitled “Odinochka” conceals many surprises. The third album of matured singer is more mature, but it did not lose MakSims lyricism and honesty. Admirers will be surprised by the unexpected appearance of release and completely new songs that are unusual for MakSim.

The publication will include a DVD with a documentary about the singer and shootings of new video “On the Radio Waves”, as well as the clip.

Recall that MakSim is one of the most successful singers in Russia, her songs always take the top of the charts, and albums have become the undisputed leaders of sales.

It easily ascended to the music pedestal by sincere, gentle voice and soulful songs, close to every young heart. Her work is highly appreciated by many prestigious awards; she has also been named the best singer of music channels, publications and radio stations.

And in spite of some break-up because of the birth of a daughter, just the other day MakSim once again became the owner of prestigious prize “Golden Gramophone”, confirming undying love of fans to her music.

4 SEO Tips for Launching a New Website and New Brand

  • Posted on August 17, 2017 at 2:46 pm

Launching a new website is hard. Launching a new brand with that new website can be downright madness.

Just ask Moz. Or iAcquire. Apparently, 2013 is the year of the marketing agency rebrand, and I’m happy to announce we’re part of that list, too: Last week, 352 Media Group became 352.

Those 2½ months spent building our new website and our new brand were the hardest I’ve ever worked in my life. They were also the most rewarding, and despite my incessant cursing, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Why? Because look at the old site:

Holy wow.

Whenever you launch a site, everyone just sees the design change, but rarely do you see the behind the scenes – and I’m not just talking about design iterations, although there were probably 13 of those – work that goes into a new website. We’re assuming you’ve already redid your keyword and market research.

That’s A Lot of Redirects

Thankfully, the domain didn’t change, but the URL structure did change to directory style. I used Ruth Burr’s template for domain migrations, but made some tweaks.

First, pull every single URL that’s on your root domain. I used both Screaming Frog and our database to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Drop into Excel and start analyzing what’s going where on your new site.

We work in agile web development, which accounts for short sprints of work (in our case, two weeks at a time) when at the end we’d be able to launch full functionally pieces of our website. Think of it like building a house one room completely at a time.

Because this bad boy needed to be up before mid-July, the planned to launch with the Slim Fast version of our sitemap: A lot of pages weren’t going to exist yet, but they would soon. That meant a lot of pages of our existing site weren’t going to move yet, but they would.

So, in addition to the 301s and 404s, I added a section of what was going to be in Phase II to make our support departments’ lives a little easier. I think it worked.

I admit it: I didn’t remember to install the analytics code on our new site until 24 hours before the site launched. *Facepalm*.

Seriously: Don’t forget it, but also, don’t settle for the basic version. There is so much more that you can see with a little customization, and you need to think about what makes most sense for you. For us, there were three big ones:

  • Enhanced in-page to see where people were clicking.
  • Page scrolling to see how far down people were going on our pages.
  • Event tracking to see how people interacted with our video.
  • Event tracking to see how often people clicked on our contact information.

If your URLs are changing, so will your sitemaps. Don’t forget to generate a new XML sitemap and resubmit me that GWT to speed up indexation of your new site. We went the multiple XML sitemap approach, one of our main site and one for our blog.

Holy Crap: We Aren’t No. 1 For Our Name

That’s every SEO professional’s nightmare. We’re living that right now. We decided to change our name in January. In May, we took a match to our old site and started over from scratch. Around June, someone finally said “Hey, I wonder where we’ll be ranked with our new brand name.”

Page 3. PAGE 3?!

Logically, it makes sense. 352 is the area code of Gainesville, Florida, our headquarters and our namesake. Sure, we’ve been known simply as 352 (tree-five-two) for 15+ years both by clients and internally, search engines weren’t making that connection.

Why would they? All of our brand links are 352 Media Group, and all of our content was 352 Media Group. We also don’t have nearly the social community that Moz does to blog, link and tweet the name change that would clued Google in sooner.

While our new brand does come with a whole new keyword targeting – Pro tip: Start your new keyword research very early – I couldn’t care less about our exact-match anchor text until we’re showing up No. 1 for “352.” How do you do it? Pull your backlink using your favorite tool, go down and find all of the links with your brand name, and start contacting.

Trust me: Start this process very early if you’re changing name, as in way before you officially launch. Start by reaching out to people who you know can queue up their change to go live on your exact launch date, for example, your author bio for any places you’re a contributor. Don’t forget to make sure your internal team changes any links they have on personal websites.

I’m in the thick of this now, and you never really realize how many brand links you have until you’re staring at a 4-digit long Excel spreadsheet.

Keeping Momentum Post Launch

Last year, I went skydiving. There’s a moment about 30 seconds into your free fall where you convince yourself that the shoot should have opened by now, and this was going to be it. Then, the chord pulls, you shoot up vertically, and you feel the biggest rush of relief because you are, in fact, going to make it through.

At 3:52 p.m. – see what we did there? – on July 16, 2013, I got that same rush from the launch of our site.

And while the honeymoon of the new brand only lasted about 24 hours until my inbox was flooded with feedback, I needed that kick to keep up the momentum our team had with post-launch iterations.

There will be things you don’t think of. There will be bugs you missed. There will be internal feedback that makes more sense. There will definitelybe user feedback you didn’t even know existed. You need an organized way to keep track of all of this.

My agency used TFS and work through a backlog of items based off client priority and effort to complete the task. This helps us better see the cool things we want to do and where it lies based on priority.

It’s not the most intuitive, and we’re searching for some something a little more user friendly, but it works well enough for now.

If you’re going through a new site launch, I feel you, buddy. It’s long. It’s a pain in the ass. Sometimes, you just want to quit. It’s extremely difficult not to get discouraged, but the end result will be worth it.

Don’t get disappointed if you forget something. There’s a lot to do, and we missed a few “Well, duh” things post launch, but it’s OK. That’s the beauty of constant iterations.

The Benefits Of Hiring A Personal Chef

  • Posted on August 17, 2017 at 2:17 pm

Most people live a hectic lifestyle, rushing to and from work, taking care of a family, and balancing errands with some semblance of a social life. Somewhere in the middle of all this chaos you need to find time to eat. Since most people are so busy focusing on other aspects of our lives, the food they eat is usually chosen because of its convenience, not its healthfulness. I suggest that in order to live a healthier, happier life we need to place more emphasis on choosing better food, and there is one surefire way to ensure that we get a healthy meal, no matter how busy our day: a personal chef.

Personal chefs are individuals you hire to create personalized meals for you and your family. These meals can be shoehorned into a diet you are currently participating in or simply be created with your health in mind. Regardless of why you hire a personal chef, the benefits are numerous. Included here are a few of the biggest benefits that come from hiring your own personal chef in Boston.

The first benefit you will see when you hire your own personal chef is a health advantage. You will no longer need to rely on fast food to get you through the day; you can look forward to your meals knowing that they have been prepared by hand to meet your specific dietary needs. A personal chef is there to create food based on your ideals, which means health can, and should, be tantamount.

The second benefit you will see when you hire one of these professionals is that you will actually have time to complete more in your day because you are not constantly stopping to prepare your meals. The fact that they are being prepared for you saves you at least two hours per day; meaning those two hours can be spent running errands or spending time with your family.

The third benefit that comes from hiring your very own chef is purely psychological: you will know that your food is already prepared so you will have one less thing to worry about. In this day and age where everyone is rushing back and forth, there is always something to worry about. Why not give yourself one less thing to fret over by simply hiring a professional to take care of your cooking?

Hiring a personal chef is almost a no-brainer. If you can afford their very reasonable fees, you will start to see just how beneficial these services can be. You will eat healthier, feel better, and have more time to accomplish daily tasks. Sounds like a pretty wise investment to me!

Motorola Gadget to Make Smartphones Like Computers

  • Posted on August 17, 2017 at 1:56 pm

It’s dumb and it’s called a lapdoc but Motorola Mobility bets consumers will want to use this gadget to make their smartphones work more like real computers and help Motorola stand out from the crowd.

The company that invented the cellphone unveiled the Atrix 4G phone, which will attach to a new type of accessory called a lapdoc, a -dumb- device that looks like a laptop computer but does not work without the phone attached.

It has a laptop size screen and a keyboard aimed at better Web browsing, video viewing and typing than on a phone.

Chief executive Sanjay Jha told journalists at the Consumer Electronics Show that he aims to develop slimmer lapdocs onto which consumers could attach multiple phones.

While consumers can use smartphones for a lot of computing activities such as web browsing, Jha said they need more than this for long emails or watching a movie on a plane.

-I like it a lot because all we’ve done is added accessories to our devices and added applications that change the way you can use them,- Jha said.

-I think we’ve a chance of differentiating ourselves.- After the product unveiling in a big packed room where attendees cheered and clapped after seeing the demonstration Jha said he already has plans in place to expand the line up.

-If you wait you miss the slot, so you have to commit,- he said.

The second largest US mobile provider AT&T Inc highlighted Atrix at its product showcase earlier in the day and said it would sell it at a -competitive price- starting this quarter.

Motorola will also try to boost sales in the new product category with a marketing splash on the Atrix and lapdoc, which are so unusual, they need to be explained more carefully to consumers than typical phones, Jha said.

But chief marketing officer Bill Ogle said while Motorola will spend -dramatically more- on marketing this year it will still be a relatively small amount versus spending on devices like Razr, its flagship phone from 2004 to 2006.

Jha said Motorola Mobility, which was newly created a day before January 4 as a spin-off from Motorola Inc, would be cautious not to over-extend itself this year.

The executive has revamped the company in the last two years by focusing solely on smartphones based on Google Inc’s Android software.

With this in mind Jha said Motorola would not branch into new operating systems such as Windows Phone 7 from Microsoft Corp and will instead continue to focus on building Android phones for the foreseeable future.

Motorola will also keep its device line-up the same size or smaller than its 2010 range of 23 phone models, Jha said.

How Will The Mighty Death Pop! Jokers Card Affect This Years Icp Hallowicked Concert

  • Posted on August 17, 2017 at 1:16 pm

Up until a few weeks ago, this would have been a difficult question to answer. But then Violent J answered Juggalos questions about The Mighty Death Pop! Jokers Card in an edition of the Hatchet Herald, and much more information about this Jokers Card came to light. Back to the question at hand, ICPs Hallowicked will be exponentially better this year thanks to the meaning of The Mighty Death Pop!s Jokers Card.

Violent J explained that The Mighty Death Pop!s Jokers card is a device designed to make people realize their life could end any instant. Death could “pop” out of nowhere when you least expect it, and there you have it. Just like any Jokers card, that for The Mighty Death Pop! has a moral as well. As Violent J himself puts it:

“My interpretation is that The Death Pop teaches us to respect the life weve been given and do our best to avoid an early death.”

He goes onto explain how people often take things for granted and take chances with their own morality. They play with their lives for the sake of attention thinking nothing of it, but doing so and taking risks can but what leads to your end. Interestingly enough, Violent J says that The Mighty Death Pop!s Jokers Cards colors are pink, purple, and yellow because theyre the least dangerous colors he could think of.

The idea is that even though it appears harmless, this Jokers Card is really the most dangerous yet. And that is exactly why ICPs Hallowicked 2012 will be one for the books.

For those who are unaware, ICPs Hallowicked is the annual ICP concert that takes place in Detroit on Halloween night. ICPs Hallowicked been taking place since 1994, and it possibly the most highly anticipated ICP event every year after Gathering of the Juggalos. This year being the year that the most highly anticipated ICP Jokers Card to date is being released, ICPs Hallowicked is going to be out of control.

Yes, every Jokers Card has to do with death in some way, shape, or form, but most determine where the deceased will travel to after they die, not about what will kill them. Furthermore, The Mighty Death Pop!s Jokers Card doesnt necessarily teach Juggalos and other ICP fans to be better people un order to guarantee their spot in Shangri-La; instead, it teaches them to simply enjoy life and be smart while theyre still around.

Because Halloween is a celebration of the dead (and obviously ICPs Hallowicked celebrates Halloween), Jokers Cards are often spoken about at ICPs Hallowicked concerts. Again though, this year is different because the talk will be about enjoying life and living it to the fullest rather than being a good person to save yourself after the fact. With this unique juxtaposition, ICPs Hallowicked, when concentrating on The Mighty Death Pop! Jokers Card and its message, will be one to remember.

Quantum Art Provides the First SaaS .NET CMS Platform

  • Posted on August 17, 2017 at 11:59 am

October 11, 2010 San Francisco, CA –

Quantum Art announces a new market focus on Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provisioning of its proven .NET Web CMS Platform.

Quantum Art designs, develops and manages on-demand business solutions utilizing its SaaS CMS platform. Trends in the industry reveal a growing interest in what Quantum Art previously marketed as QP7.Subscribe — a Software-as-a-Service version of QP7, their .NET-based web content management solution. Organizations are increasingly prepared to trust their vital processes and data to SaaS because of this provisioning models advantages. These include a significantly lower up-front capital cost, instant scalability, and multi-tenant efficiencies.

“There are thousands of CMS companies, but only dozens of them that are enterprise-class with a mid-market price, and only three of those are SaaS. We are the only one of those three that would be classified as a Platform (vs. a Product) by the leading industry analyst,” writes Mark McGee, the Managing Director of Global Operations at Quantum Art.

The Real Story Group classifies both of Quantum Art’s competitors in the SaaS CMS space as “Mid-Range Products,” whereas Quantum Art’s CMS would be classified as a “Mid-Range Platform” according to their criteriaand is unique in that category because of the SaaS provisioning model.

According to John Austin of The CMS Insider’s Blog, a platform is a “better fit” for organizations with complex needs than a productespecially if they expect the solution to have a long life-cycle. In a ‘productized’ CMS, many important decisions have been made in advance to simplify the solution design process, eliminating the crucial flexibility that a platform like Quantum Art’s can provide.

Since 2005, Cities, Counties, NPOs, and businesses have been running public and private sites and web applications on QP7.Subscribe, one of the earliest SaaS CMS options in the market.

Recently, Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties launched a new site on the Quantum Art SaaS Platform. Features include an interactive donation and store locator, links to the eBay and Amazon sites, a donation module, a job board and more — helping the community with online tools. For more information about the Goodwill Industries site and others are using Quantum Arts platform to achieve their goals, visit the Case Studies section of the site.
