Wake Up And Smell The Coffee

  • Posted on January 12, 2018 at 4:44 pm

Ever wondered how the morning cup of coffee washes off all the lethargy of sleep and kick starts your brain to face a brand new day? Does credit for coffee’s legendary refreshing effect go to the diminutive but obvious presence of caffeine? Can we reduce the virtues of such a great beverage to a mere work of a chemical? Clearly, the flavor, smell and arrogant upshot of caffeine all contribute towards making coffee a complete experience, rather than just a beverage.

Coffee is basically prepared from the roasted seeds of the coffee plant. The coffee beans – as the seeds are referred to – are roasted and powdered. The processing of coffee beans is a very labor intensive process. The roasting phase of processing considerably influences the final taste and odor of coffee and is thus the most significant part of the whole process. Roasting causes extremely complex chemical action that metamorphoses the insipid taste of the coffee seed to the great taste we all know and love. In some cases the coffee beans are even aged for a considerable period of time before they are roasted.

The range and variety of the experience we call coffee is considerably huge. For the stringent coffee buff that prefers an experience devoid of caffeine, decaffeinated coffee hits the mark. There are the darker roast styles that justify the word ‘black coffee’. There are even special flavored coffees in the market for people who need a twist in the tale. There is no end to the ways you can get your cup of coffee.

But, coffee is more than just a hot liquid in a cup. Its significance and influence extend in all aspects of society and culture. The coffee houses of the 16th century started off a trend of using coffee as an excuse and means of getting people to socialize. Coffee is the greatest social lubricant ever invented, capable of bringing people together to mingle, talk, debate and decide. The coffee houses of India became the axis and base camp of the workers struggle where people and propaganda celebrated the birth of a new political age. In Sweden and the Nordic countries, coffee is an important cornerstone of their culture.

In the past, coffee had a religious and spiritual significance. This appears quite natural given the experience of coffee is nothing short of divine. The early Arabs created wine from the coffee fruit which was used during religious ceremonies. In many cultures coffee naturally substituted wine when wine was prohibited.

The experienced connoisseurs of coffee indulge in coffee cupping. Coffee cupping is simply a great excuse to turn your love for coffee into a professional pursuit with all the semblances of any grave enterprise. Some professional coffee tasters are so proficient in drinking coffee they can identify the geographical origin of coffee from its taste.

Coffee is a great accompaniment for any informal meal, typically as an integral component of breakfast. In relatively more formal settings, like for instance, in a restaurant, coffee fits in perfectly during the dessert course. It’s obvious that coffee is a great accompaniment to anything from pastries, cookies, shortbread to muffins. But, if the coffee lovers of the world are to be taken seriously, coffee goes with any occasion or time no matter what.

Factors To Be Concerned In Choosing Door Hardware

  • Posted on January 12, 2018 at 2:08 pm

Choosing the perfect door accessories for your house can be fun, but it is essential to remember that there are several factors in line to be considered before finalizing the door accessory. The first criterion which you need to look in while selecting the door hardware is the measurement of the depth, or thickness of the door you are looking in for. This factor is particularly very important incase you are looking forward to purchase the door for an old size or for a door which has unusual sizing pattern. The standard size for a door is suppose to be 1.75 inches, but these days not all the doors are made on the basis of the standard size. So it is very important that incase you are intending to purchase the door then it is important that you take the measurements approximately.
The next aspect which you need to consider is the type of hardware which you require for opening and closing the door. The appropriate option which you can go in for is the door handles, but most of the people these days are finding the operation of levers as a better option than the handles. The levers act as a better option for the smaller children and even for people with the arthritis.
Typically, the outer doors have a dead latch and a dead bolt which is keyed on the thumb button. While you are considering the hardware of the interior door, it is important to note the kind of lock you want for the door, and how much secure should the lock be. It is always advisable that you do not install the keyed side of the lock on the interior of the room, just for the minor reason that the person could get locked inside the room incase they do not have the key. Incase you are installing the system of thumbed button or turn buttons then the person inside can easily get out without much of a strain in times of emergency.
The next aspect which you need to take into account is the appearance of your door. Are you looking forward for the hardware which matches the period of your house, or are you intending for a silver or brass shining on the door so as to reflect the period of the ancient times. Or are you looking forward for the door which suits to the look and feel of your house. It is important to note that a shiny silver door knob will completely tend to be out of place between the burnished brass carriage lights.
The next criterion which you need to consider is the usage of the sturdy material, most of the hardware these days have a special coating called as the physical vapor deposition (PVD) which protects them from the environmental conditions. It is important that you select the material based on the time you are going to devote for maintaining it.

For most of us, choosing to be fit is more a test of will than a one time decision. Being “fit” covers a change in our lifestyle much more than just embarking upon a new exercise or diet program. For me, the choice came about 15 years ago. I was about 24 years old when friends of mine convinced me to start going to the gym as a group. At that time, I knew I didn’t really like the way I looked, so I thought it would be a good idea. How hard could it be? Well, it didn’t take long before I knew the answer to that question. The Harm That Musical Instruments Inflict On Your Teeth

  • Posted on January 12, 2018 at 9:15 am

Before your child engages in the playing of any wind instrument, a New York orthodontist advises the parents to first talk to the dentist. The dentist points out that a number of dental problems come as a result of playing certain kinds of instruments. In one report he wrote for the Journal of the American Dental Association, he pointed out that millions of kids living in America are either playing an instrument they chose to play or are playing an instrument which was just carelessly picked out for them.

The children would see then that they were just not meant to play certain instruments because it does not fit them dentally or temperamentally. Would be musicians would then find themselves only able to play the instrument with a certain degree of skill without being particularly good at it. Any good dentist who is concerned about the service he gives to his patients must let would be musicians, music teachers, and parents know that potential problems in dentistry are related to musical instruments.

Before pursuing a musical instrument, it is advised that children and parents first seek advice from a dentist. There are a lot of dentists who claim that single reed instruments are usually to blame for cases of body tissue illnesses experienced by wind instrumentalists. The lower lip is supported by the teeth, and unfortunately it is also here that a lot of weight from the instrument is applied. The affected bone area does not receive enough blood when continued pressure is placed on the teeth.

The outward pressure that may be unintentionally exerted from the muscles of the jaw may force itself against the upper teeth and harm the alignment of the teeth. The upper and lower teeth experience pressure from the lips when brass instruments such as the trombone and horns are played. Extended periods of playing these instruments may lead to unnecessary movement or mobility of teeth. Those with irregular or sharp front teeth may experience pain on their lips when they play the oboe while those with short upper lips would have a difficult time playing the flute.

There are also certain string instruments that create potentially serious dental problems. He said previous studies have shown that continuous violin playing causes much pressure on the jaw, especially the part which holds the violin against the shoulder, and this may lead to a faulty bite in some people. An oral examination for those who want to play musical instruments is recommended so that possible dental problems can be avoided. Would be musicians would not have to worry too much about dental suitability and musical handicap so long as proper early recommendations are given.

Complications in life can be avoided by getting early checkups in life. Before playing wind instruments is one such case where seeing a dentist beforehand is a must. In closing, whatever you do or want to do, see a dentist first.

How Meditation Has Changed My Life

  • Posted on January 12, 2018 at 8:07 am

Every week day for the past 2 years, I’ve done a daily practice with others virtually. Here’s how it works. I call the others on the phone, then one of us rings a bell to start and then again at the end, after 30 minutes. When we’re done, we each wish each other a wonderful day and go about our business.

During the 30 minutes, we each do our own practice. Sometimes I do all mindfulness meditation, sometimes I add in some meridian tapping and at times I’ve done some energy work on myself during the half hour. I always state my intention for who I want to be as the day unfolds.

Having this daily practice has probably been the most significant factor in helping me be my best. I never would have stuck with it so consistently if others hadn’t been involved. Just knowing others were waiting for my call each day made all the difference. We’ve been going for 2 years now and I can really see how it’s changed me.

Here’s what I notice: *Instead of helping me -get away from it all’, my practice helps me to show up for it all. I’m clearer about who I am, so I’m not so rocked by the world and others. I can let WAY more of life in and just BE with situations that before would have been very stressful or difficult.

*It gives me a daily reminder of a bigger picture of myself and who I am as a spiritual being. Instead of reacting like a pinball machine to things in my life, I actually feel as if I have choices.

*I feel healthier than ever. No colds or flu this year….

* Since I review my intentions every day, I am much more likely to act in congruence with them during the day after this reminder.

Having a daily practice has been very rich and rewarding and I heartily encourage people to design one for themselves and then create the support to make it happen.
